Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Nick Nelson
The Nelson Family Fund was created to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Nichols “Nick” Nelson, a founding member of Community Smiles Dental and a passionate advocate for expanding access to care.
Dr. Nelson dedicated 14 years of service on the Community Smiles Dental Board of Directors, helping guide the organization’s growth and ensuring that children and families facing financial barriers could still receive high-quality dental care.
The Nelson Family Fund carries forward that commitment by helping patients receive critical treatment when their needs exceed what can be provided in our clinics.
Why This Fund Matters
Most of the care provided at Community Smiles Dental can be completed in our clinics. However, some children require more advanced treatment that must be performed at a partner provider with specialized services such as anesthesia.
For families already facing financial hardship, the cost of this care can be overwhelming. Without support, treatment is often delayed or may not happen at all.
The Nelson Family Fund removes that barrier.
Through this fund, Community Smiles Dental is able to coordinate care with trusted partner providers and ensure that children receive the treatment they need safely and without financial burden.
